I enjoyed using beruka more than camellia when I played fates desu. I think its cause I found more fun in having to training her a bit before she became a reliable one round machine, while camellia just comes out the box beating the shit out of everyone. I think its really funny though that in universe beruka is an assassin, but her actual class is wyvern rider because fates doesn't have assassin as a class for some reason

You can definitely make a case for using Duessel in Ephraim route and Saleh in Eirika route due to the increased availability, but they still will likely pale compared to any units in the same class line you've been using, not just in stats, but in supports and ranks too, and they have the flexibility to pick a promo class to fill whichever niche you need.

In what universe is anyone other than Seth going to be remotely close to Duessel's performance on Ephraim's route? Saleh is pretty cleanly better than the mages on Eirika's path as well.

Anyways in general the chapter wasnt as hard after I dealt with the enemies on the starting point.
Got lucky with several attacks, particularly Martel, and the generics did a great job.
Didn't have to use many Vulneraries but used all our heal and magics.
Thanks to Elain we have 2 mends.
Didn't use the wife much to not waste the Aircalibur which will be our Cortez killer.
As mentioned Gio was very hard so I was able to get some great levels.

He has better averages than all of them though. I think his only real weak point is weapon selection, as having to choose between the consistent high MT of axes or the anti-flier utility of bows while your only other weapon is swords really sucks.

I do remember reading some arguments that Makalov is at least worthy a deployment slot at the time you recruit him by comparison to your other slot fillers, just not worthy of investment.

Consider saving some statboosters for Aras. She'll have super high defenses, no weaknesses, and hit back for massive damage with 1-2 range magical attacks. Basically a perfect juggernaut.
But I only played once and the creator of the romhack told me that nobody uses her so maybe I'm just crazy.

She takes such little damage that she doesn't even need nosferatu.
Aras and Tact both have dark magic but their roles are quite different and their class isn't technically the same, so that didn't bother me. Tact still has his long ranged tome and I think he gets another tome later. Although I benched him later because his stats weren't very good.
In theory you could give Aras anima tomes after promotion so she can access a S rank weapon, but flux is really accurate in tacthack so I doubt it's worth passing up the ability to spam it.

Aras is underleveled for her join time so it makes sense for her to end up good.
But I wouldn't call her unassuming. I think she has as much defense as Foskey and gains more on promotion, with none of the usual weaknesses. That immediately stands out compared to typical fragile mages.

You have to remember that Aras doesn't really get to do much on her join map and the very next one is a big defense map with time pressure since you want to get the boots and items. So her first real map for all intents and purposes is Chapter 15. Many players will have a team that's either settled and/or well above Aras in level at point, so unless you have a bad Tact, its not likely that they'll be willing to try her out.
Although, my perception of Tact might be colored since I usually give him/her the hidden Body Ring for better performance with Seere/Nosferatu.

E.g. if you need to choke a point the game should incentivize you to dust off that knight that has been sitting on the bench rather than using a higher-level unit. With lower growths the potential to get screwed is minimized because 0 growths means you're only 2 points below average instead of 5.
Speaking of 0% growths almost everyone that plays this way does it wrong. There's no point if you're just going to savescum crits to make up for it.

If you're going to play 0% growths you should take the extra turn to ensure safety.
If you're willing to do unreliable stuff to save turns then you might as well allow unreliable (or at least normal) level-ups.
At least those runs are optimized and polished, but the concept is far better suited for reliable playthroughs than for lowest-turn-count.
