Consciously or unconsciously they KNOW they need a giant beurocracy to both hire them and to push their agenda. A tiny group of 12 people can tell them to buzz off with "the male gaze" and "heteronormality". A dev team of 400 hundred, and a company of thousands can't. They need it, because its their nest, their home.

They treat big mega-companies as a host to suckle nutrients from and to hire more of their own. This leads to even more dev team bloat, and games becoming unprofitable.

As long as times were good no one noticed, but AAA gaming is sinking, and AAA movies are sinking as well (same process played out in Disney and Pixar and others).

They KNOW they are not talented and they lack confidence. They need a big parental figure like the government or a business to hire them and give them security.

AAA market is shrinking naturally, because kids aren't playing them so you don't get new blood to replace old, and the content of said AAA is sterile and bland or weird social messaging.

I believe the end-game is going to be massive amounts of outsourcing to foreign studios, which means that these Vidya game jobs are NEVER coming back. Like 100,000 video game jobs just gone forever and never returning. They'll have to find other companies to parasitize and shape to their own needs and wants.
