I don't know if anything "went wrong." It's an old game and it just ran its course. I'm too scared to even look at how many hours I have logged in Dota, but it's certainly over 500. Eventually I just got bored with it and moved on. To Valve's credit, they've done everything they can to artificially prolong the game's lifestyle as I understand the game still receives regular and significant updates. I haven't played in years, but I know they used to regularly rework the entire map and I heard that they did a pretty substantial map rework just a year or two ago. Eventually, however, people just move on.

Have you played any interesting matches recently? I've been playing Turbo to fix my behaviour score and I keep losing to backdooring. It's so stupid. It even happens at pro level. I'll watch Collapse take an early tower because he picked Lycan and rushed Helm of the Overlord.
I'm fine with the strategy in normal matches, but it's really frustrating in Turbo.

You can't please everyone. Look at Valve's other games like TF2 and L4D2 where the community would LOVE to get some kind of update that isn't just "officially released" community made slop. CS2 gets a few bones here and there, but it's mostly cosmetics to keep the market going, but Dota2 still gets more updates than just about anything else that Valve works on. You can complain about those updates, but people would also be complaining if Valve didn't do anything

Kez is the epitome of league character design. No stuns, interrupts are silence/disarm/slows/etc, low cooldown skills with tons of mobility (hi akali), melee with a shitload of auxillary/secondary aoe & dots that's damage only.

Furion is ranged, and just from being ranged they can apply a lot of limitations to him that would be unacceptable on a melee hero.
The biggest one would be movement - a 3 second delayed teleport basically means that if you make the wrong decision on a jump in, you really don't have a viable escape (it's why retards build shadowblade on him).
Compare this to kez who just gets to move around in fights like he's antimage (who needs to buy AOE and have it reserved as a medium cooldown ult)

when i played like 8 years ago the games just took too long and skill based matchmaking just forced wins and losses on you. there would be times i would troll in a game and do nothing but have a crushing win, and then others where im trying my absolute hardest but my team is only spanish speakers who just feed. nothing you do matters if you are playing for short periods of time. the game averages out over a very long period of time like poker. its only for grinders

Every dota hero has to be the best at *something*. And they're all the best at different things. i.e. Nyx can burst a single target better than anyone. Bristle can turn and kill you just by running away. Doom cripples a single target for a decade. Ancient Apparition deletes all healing. Invoker has a spell for every situation. Dazzle keeps one nigga alive no matter what. Axe kills one nigga no matter what.

I quit sometime over two years ago before they made the map bigger but sometimes get an itch to start playing again. How difficult would it be to get back into Dota now? The game looks so different now I'm not sure it's even worth the effort.
