I played the first and second game for the first time ever during the last month and the companions are so much better in the second game. The companions in the first game were either annoying (Carth) or boring and generic. I liked the old black dude but that was just because he had Sarevok's voice actor.

is it even possible to make bastilla good? she has naturally decent dex but even then she gets bodied constantly. has anyone ever had any success making her good as a team member? i was thinkinkg of trying oddball stuff like maybe blasters or single saber + master dueling

She's not very good mechanically but I kept her around for story purposes. I tried to make her a heal and buff slut but she's not even very good at that. You get someone later on that completely mogs her.

I didn't really use him but Mandalore, Warmaiden, Darth Traya/Kreia, etc were so much better than any companion in KOTOR1. Even the droids in the second game had way more personality than the droids in the first game.

I don't know anon, for me none of the companions really stood out that much (unless they were annoying). It doesn't help that the game is like playing a leaked beta build with Chris Avallone's writing, which is more painful than having your nuts to a running lawnmower.
