Steam isn't a viable platform anymore and it's impossible for anyone to find your game in the endless sea of anime porn slop. Not to mention that Valve takes 30% of the profits, unlike Epic.

The money is so good that, as an indie, you'll break even from development costs just by making it exclusive. It'd be dumb to pass up on that opportunity

If taking the Epic deal pays for your development costs, then it's stupid not to take it, then have all the sales on Epic, then later Steam be pure profit.
If you have a console release as well, then the Epic deal is less of a no-brainer.
