There's no way the relationship works long term, it was doomed from the moment they happened to have had sex while Joel was getting tortured. Ellie's survivor's guilt will constantly weigh down the relationship with "what if I wasn't having sex that day", then the rest of the approx 9-12 months being a couple was front loaded with a murder revenge quest that almost killed them both and backloaded with Ellie having PTSD and panic attacks relating to Abby.

Also introducing her shrugging her responsibilities alongside Ellie to smoke weed while Joel is getting GOLF'd makes her hard to like, like yeah I get she's a horny teenager and I probably would've done the same in her shoes but the issue is we then don't get enough development in Seattle to make up for it. She spends half the plot having morning sickness offscreen. I did like how concerned she was when Ellie's mask cracked, I wish *that* Dina had been more prominent.
