Slides like this existed when i was a kid. They terrified me even then. Other novel playground apparatus: two uprights with three tires on a axle between the two. This was done intentionally. They made the interiors as boring as possible so people would be less inclined to eat in, meaning less time/money spent on cleanup. Also less children which means significantly less time/money on cleanup.
