Slides like this existed when i was a kid. They terrified me even then. Other novel playground apparatus: two uprights with three tires on a axle between the two. You were supposed to stand on the tires while holding on to the handles of the uprights, then start running (tires rotated freely). These were installed over a sand pit for safety.

This was done intentionally. They made the interiors as boring as possible so people would be less inclined to eat in, meaning less time/money spent on cleanup. Also less children which means significantly less time/money on cleanup.

they canned this game when I was in elementary around 3rd grade and didn't play it again until high school because pussy ass board of education removed rubber balls then removed foam balls then removed dodgeball itself.

our school got around that by buying a bunch of pool noodles, cutting them in half, and having everyone sword fight (you could only hit each other in the legs)
>tfw you went to college to get a degree so you could spend every summer warning stupid ass parents that playground equipment does indeed get hot in the summer

My city had one of these that was, like, five times bigger than this. It was absolutely insane and had a bunch of soulful shit like engraved bricks and what have you. Then, I shit you not, they demolished it a few years back and replaced it with some globohomo chinkium for ipad toddlers. Positively ghoulish. Thanks for reminding me.
