Honestly?

Nothing.

People just adapt to their circumstances or die. I have seen people gaslight themselves and rationalize even the most hideous things they've done into something someone else did. Not even being nihilistic about it, even the "changed" people I see have always just used it as a front or a way to try to "own up, bury it, and move on" while still being the same person with the same beliefs.

Anything else just seems to be fables we make up.

You can’t. Show a white girl a big dusky cock and her mouth will foam. Show her a tiny white pecker and she’ll laugh.

SIXTEEN TIMES THE DETAIL
Anonymous No.716270240 [Report]
You can't really after a certain age, people will simply warp their preconceived notions to serve a different viewpoint. It's like how recovered addicts will often just find something different to fill the hole of drugs.

Everything, from the color of the sky to the most complex systems of ideology. Everything is covered a certain substance; a man in land filled with lizards called it "poetic substance" and I think it covers everything, and its covered so deep and profoundly whenever you set your gaze in something as seemingly simple as a sunset or a smile, it can change you entirely.

>If there is anything I have learned in my travels across the Planes, it is that many things may change the nature of a man. Whether regret, or love, or revenge or fear - whatever you believe can change the nature of a man, can. I’ve seen belief move cities, make men stave off death, and turn an evil hag's heart half-circle. This entire Fortress has been constructed from belief. Belief damned a woman, whose heart clung to the hope that another loved her when he did not. Once, it made a man seek immortality and achieve it. And it has made a posturing spirit think it is something more than a part of me.

adaptation isn't the same as changing one's nature that Planescape is talking about.

>>716271647
I don't really have to speak to it when the game answers that. The Nameless One that says >>716270572 is a wholly different individual than any you meet. People don't really go through that kind of change in reality, not to any degree anyone has seen.

Except whatever fable someone's about to bring in here.

the setting was already way too complex/weird for normie sensibilities to survive. Regular DnD is the right amount of blandness.

Well given the game has a bunch of factions which seem to be based around different beliefs I would say belief is probably the answer at which case I guess the real answer is any answer you choose as long as you believe its the answer

Really though the answer is....
