2007 was the last year where almost every new game felt original.

Assassin's Creed - brand new, original. Created a massive franchise that continues to this day.
Mass Effect - brand new, original, created a franchise.
Uncharted Drakes Fortune - had 3 highly successful sequels
Crysis - the most graphically impressive game of its time.
Bioshock - considered one of the greatest all time games.
Stalker - Another original game that created a cult following.

What is in common between all of these games? None of them were sequels, all of them were original ideas.

Even when you talk about other games from 2007 you had Halo 3, one of the biggest most hyped games of all time, CoD4, back when CoD was still respected and not just some massive slop franchise, SM Galaxy, possibly the best 3D Mario game rivaling 64, Prime 3, I think the witcher game out in 2007 too.

Games were massively oversimplified just so that they could keep on pumping up the console audience with their weak processing power and dual analog inputs. There's a reason that so many genres like immersive sims, stealth games, etc. just died in the 2000s and it's due to these restrictions.
Ultimately the only playable version of a game being on PC didn't matter if the consoletards would simply continue to eat up the worst versions, so after 2007, they just stopped developing the best versions of games and uniformly made every game the worst version.

This console was just a Guardian Heroes machine for me. Played the hell out of that game. Even got the remaster for Xbox. Between the two versions of the game I've been it dozens of times. Real shame that sequel on GBA was so garbage in comparison.
