Miyazaki wanted to experiment with something different and it fell flat. In a perfect world, THAT would be the end of the story.

Unfortunately, it caught on with all of the normies and now this fucking game is the godl standard for ALL non-fromsoft Soulslikes. Truly the worst timeline. Wuchang gives me hope that we’ll pull out of the Perfect-Block depression, as it’s a game that most closely resemble’s Bloodborne with hints of Dark Souls. It has a perfect-block mechanic, but thankfully for once it’s ACTUALLY optional, unlike what redditors day about games like Lies of P or Khazan, which are CLEARLY designed around it.

It's the least similar of the bunch but it still plays significantly closer to them than any other random third person action game. It should have been its own thing though, instead of rehashing so many elements from the souls games, because it's the clear pick for when you're trying to decide which soulsborne game is the weakest.

That is sekiro. You can play most fights one handed because you don't even need to move around at all, just push the two buttons in the same pattern again and again. Sekiro definitely did some things right, I love how it went back to dark souls 1 style interconnected world where you could do areas in different orders for example. But nothing matters when the combat is so shallow, especially given how much more combat focused this one is compared to the souls games.

Uhh yeah most action games have you attack and parry, what's the issue here? You also conveniently left out the prosthetic tools that allow small changes to gameplay styles and even stealth attacks. Dark souls is quite literally spamming for i frames and getting either an attack or slightly harder attack doing 1/100 of the bosses damage. Rinse and repeat the entire game
