I think companies should keep killing games so game devs can lose their jobs, watch their dreams die, and ultimately kill themselves.

That's not how it works. You want them to be deprofessionalized instead so your taxpayer money isnt used to fund them. Picrel happens after USAIDS is taken down for an example.

why would they call it that instead of brain drain? i think there is some merit to the idea of worrying about AAA dying, since they house some really smart old guard employees who actually know how to work on game engines and do crazy shit (or did, in their youth). those skills will probably be lost completely if AAA dies and only the indie scene remains

that said, i think they specifically used the word "deprofessionalization" because they don't honestly mean the talented old guard, but rather the various rent seekers these companies hire to keep things classy and corpo, and you know, professional

And then after all that, there are still countless games to play, enough to play until the day we die between putting another few thousand hours into your favorite games and finding countless new ones.
It's a win win.
There's a big added bonus, too. Your friends won't be talking about and memeing you into buying the latest slop, they will have to play better, older multiplayer games that have P2P or dedicated servers.

you haven't considered that reality is far worse
the dream of game development has died already
the golden age of gaming is long gone
being a game dev today is exactly the same as having any other office job, same problems, same enjoyment to be had, same level of fulfillment
