zoomie needs to learn about the principle of marginal returns. it doesn't need to be the fastest (V)RAM. it just needs to be fast enough for the application.

sure, enjoy your jitters and pop-ins if you find a modern game actually worth playing.
it's not only about the speed of the ram, it also has to do with the bandwith and it being shared with your cpu

I didn't move the goalposts, I just reinforced my original point by providing an example and a reason for why it's such a bad thing.
you are correct on the second part of your message however, no sense in continuing the discussion with someone who behaves in such an illogical manner as to cry out fallacies when none were commited.

Gddr5 itself is dirt cheap. Pretty sure it's the bandwidth of the bus and the controller that causes the cost to inflate so much.

And GDDR5 is at the speed required for the application. You also shouldn't need that much VRAM to draw what's on screen where as RAM could be storing a list of all the people your mom fucked.

Also the pic in the OP is NVME which is not RAM. If it were treated as RAM, it would be significantly slower. So much slower that the CPU could probably finish whatever task necessary before you could even fill it up

IMC is just part of the die area, hombre. 20mm2 of PHY on a 400mm2 die isn't pushing the bottom line up much. You are paying a healthy profit margin for the memory chips themselves.

Honestly I had to assume it was something else since the memory modules themselves are less than a dollar a GB. Guess shit really just that fucked then.

anon I do AI shit too, but higher res becomes pointless if you're doing basic anime style

Just use AI upscaling, but at that point you'd only be doing it if you're planning to print out a poster or something.

Njudea be staggering their vram for each card tier to the point where it makes no sense. Why the fuck does a regular 5070 have less vram than a 506-
