Yes, you use the second stick to do things, but there isn't much nuance to it. If gadgets were more complex and could do more than one thing by using different motion inputs, it'd be integral to the gameplay and thus impossible to replicate on a single-stick console, but with things like dash hoop doing the same thing every time and needing a single input, and directional things (other than radar and car) stopping you dead anyway, using just a button and, where applicable, left stick, just like every other game, works just fine. Stationary radar still works perfectly fine, and while running alongside the RC car to solve some puzzle would be fun it's never actually used anywhere, even things like cages where monkeys climb out of the entrance further from you when poked with the car have them crawl slow enough for you to run up and net them before they run off (and, you know, you can just let them run off and catch them bare). Twin stick controls have potential, but Ape Escape never really used them well, it was always on the level of Wii wagglan.
