>>716312389 (OP)The beginning, but first we need to establish the beginning of Video Games which is a topic of discussion between some people somewhere probably.
What is a video game? A computer game with a changeable display. Changeable here means that it can form new "graphics" on the screen itself. Pre-baked graphics like LCD games or "additrons" (A type of tube that can display only numbers) do not count. On the one hand a 2x2 monochrome screen does for this purpose even if it might display far less information. Computer game refers to the act of computing rather than what we consider a computer now. This disqualifies anything analog that does no digital computing alongside it.
Obviously I still have your undivided attention, so where do we start then? The CRT amusement device is out, it's analog. Turochamp never actually ran on a computer. Bertie the Brain is out due to its use of Additrons. This leaves us at Nimrod. A custom-built computer that can play a game of Nim. Its "screen" is really just some small indicator lights, but is allowed due to how its worded.
Now obviously you need to understand the history of the game of Nim, the first true videogame, to really be ready to get into the hobby. Variants of this videogame have been played since ancient times, some might say it even originated in China as ๆก็ณๅญ (which you can read), but China does like to take credit for a great many things. The rules have only been reconstructed since 1901, so it's a relatively modern remake if you think about it. You are to take objects from piles. The player who picks last loses, you can pick any amount of objects from a single pile.
Have fun with your new hobby, Anon. Shoot me a PM when you've done that so we can move on to the next!
