Some people say “just tune the numbers!”—yeah right. The addons wouldn’t even function properly if they actually did that. And now they’ve announced another server, completely contradicting what they just said before. These Epoch devs can’t keep their word.

Now you’re splitting the PvP and PvE community—and even splitting the PvP crowd in half. Every fresh server gets high numbers for like three weeks, then it dies out. I see the same thing happening again with this so-called PvP server.

in classic wow a druid could do any role on the fly in the 5-10 man dungeons to help save a run, if the tank dies yo ucan go to bear form and pop cooldowns and tank pretty well even in dps or healing gear.

Anyways, for these private severs where they take away the "hybrid tax" without completely reworking the class specializations it totally just fucks balance sideways.
As far as WoW game design goes there are really just 2 ways to balance hybrids.
You either do it the way current retail wow did it where you choose a spec and the abilities not in your spec do next to nothing or are not available. ie you pick DPS spec and your heals are like 25% as effective
OR
You do it the way classic wow did it where hybrids could do anything but were a little weaker at everything, with some cooldowns to make them viable in alternate roles for a few minutes
The way private servers often do it of leaving hybrids their full kit and just buffing their damage does not work, it makes non hybrids a wasted slot and ruins PvP to the point hevenm hardcore PvPers will not want to play. Hell, in Epoch they are even putting healing power on paladins DPS raid gear.

The reward for playing this shit game since its inception is you get to basically know what it feels like to live in idiocracy. You know what the idea is going to entail as the dev talks about it, you see it happen time and time again and explain why and no one believes you and then it happens exactly as you say it will over and over and the morons smack themselves in the head and say "wow who could have guessed that would be the consequences" and then in a year or two another dev makes the same mistake again.

Most people don't play wow constantly on EVERY SINGLE SERVER. They just get the itch every once in a while then look into what's on offer. And fresh MMO releases are always fun so Epoch is a good option.
I can't speak for other people, but I can tell you my reasons:
I played vanilla on and off when it came out originally and I liked it, but stopped during Cata. Then I played the 2019 re-release but eventually stopped before WOTLK to play some other stuff. Then I played SoD a little which I enjoyed, but now it's basically dead. So now I get the itch again because I love classic wow and coincidentally a new server is about to come out which promises classic but with balance changes to make every spec viable (fixing the worst part of classic), it's fresh, and it's on the 3.3.5 client. So I'll join, enjoy it for as long as I can then play something else when I get bored. It's not that serious anon.

I think my biggest problem is still professions. I was spoiled on a server I play on where you're able to train every profession on one character. You always feel locked into Alchemy otherwise you're broke and can never do anything but farm for consumables
I hate that you don't ever really have a choice on picking professions as there is always an optimal set

the 25% increase on a SP flask ends up being about the same as an enchant in terms of spellpower. Tailor Ench will give me 32 SP from those while iirc the bonus on your flask would be 18 SP, so it's 2 SP more than an individual enchant and double flask duration which is also really fucking nice
but I'm gonna gamble on the BoP patterns making a big difference
if all else fails I'll just change profs eventually

It does not make up for it at all. What down time do you have as cat? You kill shit, pop out for a heal when needed then change to cat again. By the time you have to heal again your mana has regenerated.
