It got abandoned 2 years ago and rebooted this May. In all likelihood, EA will starve it out of a budget and kill it, instead of outright canceling it. Unless the TV show somehow manages to revive the franchise. But that's not going to be a vote of confidence in future Bioware games, it might lead to some more copies of the LE being sold, though. Even then, the series is a good 2-3 years away.

No, it was being developed during the "time travel" boom in media.
So it'll about Liara trying to find artifacts, etc and sending them back in time to Shepard during the events or ME1,2 & 3.

Biggest change to the timeline is that Shepard isn't killed by the Collectors at the start of ME2

Oh, it won't be good. I mean, all I'm saying is that EA is holding off on the off chance that the show is good to actually pour some money in the next game, but even in that case, it's not saving Mass Effect.

The show has some people from the Fallout show, but the fallout show was extremely mid, with some highlights, like Walter Goggins being a good actor and Ella Purnell not being an insufferable feminist girl boss protagonist. Who knows what they fuck they'll do, but going off of the Fallout TV show, it will be about a group trying to go back to the Milky Way from Andromeda, only to find that the Reapers are still there and we lost the war.

They're not going to use femshep, but the protagonist will definitely be female.
I expect a lot more female characters, to be honest, and a lot of them will be pajeets, because that's what the lore says. Or this indistinguishable mesh of brown. Men will mostly be fuck-ups. Protagonist will be girlboss lesbian and have another girl boss girlfriend, probably asari.

The setting has kinda served its purpose, so I don't really wanna see another Mass Effect game unless it's lower stakes and more focused. Andromeda was actually a pretty ingenious way to do a fresh start, since a new Galaxy means new lore to uncover and new adversaries to fight, but the game was a wet fart
