I went to DDO. God damn the monetization is not great, to say the least (it does a weird mix of content that you can sub for or buy permanently, and also regular MTX outside of that). But the game itself kicks ass. There is a spell that you can cast to stop certain enemy undead from bringing dead teammates back as undead minions, you probably will never see mechanics like that in a modern MMO, it wouldn't be safe for the average normgroid subhuman to consume without having a panic attack and self-terminating on the spot.

skills are flashy with some classes having nice gameplay and the bosses are wild
i think i only have a few big gripes with this game
it does the fucking eternally gay korean mmo thing of "your equipment blows up if you fail to enhance it past a certain point" and like you really need to enhance that point to even reach mid game, so you have to save a metric fuckton of spares and money, and there's still no guarantee you'll hit and this is for 17 fucking equipment slots btw
the second being how it still has daily cancer you must do or you miss out on gains
thirdly, it's not really immediately obvious to a new player what they should be prioritizing in account progression without looking up a guide

World of Warcraft is so dead they are finally pulling the ripcord to move away from the e-sport model and are now removing all combat addons with the goal of making the game more player friendly with the next expansion
