The only thing I fear about these "community projects" is that the organizers would (now) have more power over individual creators on what will get voted on the workshop, which sucks for people who have an idea that doesn't fit the current community project.
That and sometimes the themes become less and less about TF2. This one isn't too bad, I can imagine the shipping operations and spy bases of RED and BLU.

It's minor but it's enough of a smokescreen to throw people off. It's not like you'd be able to switch the weapon to whatever he's using in the case of a Short Circuit or Wrangler for example.
It's just a dumb decision period,it flies in the face of TF2s design. I'd say switch it to finger guns as a catch all but that would be taking Heavy's shtick.

I mean if I was the single guy handling tf2 stuff at valve I wouldn't trust myself in the slightest to balance the game. I mean even when valve was still updating the game some balance changes were pretty bad
I guess you could bring back closed/open betas, put in a bunch of popular suggestions and see if they work out, even if it may be a slow process
