i played them all for the first time this year
1 is genuinely good, a simple shooter with a simple but well executed story, pared back mechanics, and fun enemies
2 is better in every way
3 is a bit crap by comparison
reach is pretty good, not as good as 2
4 is a steaming dogshit

ODST is my second favorite because it's the closest to CE's combat loop. I'm not a fan of how squishy you are in the rest of the games, and it gave you plenty of reasons to use other weapons.

Halo 2 with more player health and reserve ammo would be a great game. I'm not a fan of it normally. The variety in the maps is cool and I appreciate not needing to spend 45 minutes on a single gigantic level.

Halo is not a dog shit game. As someone that doesn't care for Halo, I know it has good qualities. I've played Halo 1 multiple times, but also as someone that played FPS games almost since the beginning, it has always been a mediocre experience.
However, for many people, Halo is their real first FPS experience, and so they love it. Are they are wrong? Not really. They might be wrong if they choose to ignore other games and only suck off Halo, but they're not wrong for loving it.
If anything, Halo fans are dog shit, I'll agree with you on that. Come to think of it, Zelda fans are dog shit too.
