Yea so you can choose the stats you want without unique effect tied to them. That's the point. You get your effects from your sigils and relic along with your build of traits. While stats come from runes and gear. It's better than it all being 1 system because it allows for build freedom.

Gear with "unique abilities" is lame and gay.
If I get armor, I want it to protect me.
If I get a weapon, I want it to hurt people.
I don't want gear to give me some class-defining mumbo-jumbo that you NEED.
If you want to give me unique abilities, give them to the class. Or make them trainable with some rare item. None of this "I got a helmet and now I can fly and shit rainbows" crap.
If you absolutely NEED gear that does something weird, make it ultra rare and in single numbers. If you want that Ring of Fagginess + 5 you better earn it by getting it from Tomb of OP or prying it from the corpse of previous owner. And if you log off with it for more than a week it disappears and returns to the tomb of OP.
