How often do you 100% your games
>>716365523 (OP)You should only 100% your games if it's a meaningful experience (which it hardly ever is). If it's a shallow grind, then you're better off spending your time playing another game instead.
I already have dozens of games in my backlog. Why would I waste 20 hours trying to squeeze the last bit of mediocre gameplay from a game I've already beaten, when I can move on to something else?
>>716365523 (OP)i don't have that flavor of the autism

Almost never. I've only 100% completed games that don't take long to do that like the Hotline Miami titles. If it's some 100-hour RPG, there's no chance in hell I'm doing all that side shit.

>>716365523 (OP)I will use 100%ing as an excuse to keep playing a game I enjoy once I finished but I've only 100%ed maybe 40ish games and will stop once it gets tedious.

>>716365523 (OP)>How often do you 100% your gamesI am autistic about getting all achievements, for which I use the following criteria
- Generally single player games only, If I can get all achievements on a multiplayer game that's nice but it's not something I try to get
- I enjoy the game enough that I am either willing to play through the entire game again or willing to keep playing from an earlier save to get missing achievements
- Achievements are not too grindy (kill 100,00 enemies when you barely get to 1/10th of that in a regular playthrough)
- Achievements are not too estoeric to the point that having a wiki on hand won't really help
- Game doesn't keep updating with new achievements long after I stopped playing (Terraria and Stardew are examples of this)
- Game comes with achievements in the first place, no retroachievements

I've been thinking about this. I don't 100% games. But what does that mean? Wouldn't a "gamer" finish their games? It's been really bothering me lately.
I always see people post their platinum trophies and shit, and I couldn't imagine working that hard for it. Getting all 500 collectibles, grinding every item/character to level 100 for no reason and all that.
Think about it. "Work". I would consider doing as such "work". If you bring this up to "real gamers", they will insist it isn't work, and they had fun doing it. Not for me. If it isn't fun and it's "work" for me... what does that mean?

To 100% that game you basically have to beat each cup with each machine on each difficulty, plus buying all of the items (excluding those locked behind region locks and cheat codes), and beating every story mode mission on each difficulty.
If you think Mission 7 on Very Hard is bad, try making someone do Emerald and Diamond cups on Master with Blood Hawk, Silver Rat, and Cosmic Dolphin.
I liked Dark Souls 1 so much that I did a challenge run to obtain every item in the game on a single character, I played to NG+4 for sufficient boss souls to craft all boss weapons and farmed all the random drops in the entire game, it was actually fun. I made comprehensive lists with pen and paper back then lmao.

>>716365523 (OP)Only if the optional shit is actually fun to complete. If 100%ing it involves any of the following
>get 999 of item xyz with 0.01% drop rate>beat boss rush gauntlet on nightmare mode>see timed easily missable sceneThen I won't bother
I'm no longer a kid with a lot of free time and one or two games that had to last me until my next birthday or christmas.
Grinding for 100% is just not for me anymore. I could barely finish BotW, let alone getting around to gathering and doing every single shit.

>>716365523 (OP)>How often do you 100% your gamesWhen I finished a game and I'm only missing one or two achievements and I got all the other ones without even trying then I might get the remaining one or two if they're easy to get but that only happened once so far.
Other than that I simply do not care about them. I am able to set my own goals and get my own fun out of video games. Someone providing me with a list of arbitrary goals doesn't interest me at all, I play however I want.

>>716372264Unironically REvelations.
Main campaign was dogshit.
The raid mode was great. I completely 100% that shit on 3DS.
>>716365523 (OP)I get close with games I'm enjoying. I'm replaying Death Stranding right now, and I'm determined to 5 star everyone. It's not true 100%, but it counts for me.
God no. Especially since "achievements" these days are collecting 100 gizmos or beating the developers in an online pvp match.
>>7163667633d world is kind of meant to be played with 3 other people, so you get 4 completions in 1 go.
But yeah, Ill take my one and call it a day.
Nintendo games used to be great fun to 100% but the switch gen they really pushed it a bit too far
>>716365523 (OP)DBZ Kakarot is hellish to 100%.
>>716385689Raid Mode was the most fun I had on 3DS. Was the console/PC port Raid Mode as active and fun?
>>716365523 (OP)The last game I've gone out of my way to 100% was Sonic Adventure 2 in like, 2016
>>716386367it was just the same. Just with some extra playable characters or some shit. Couldn't get around to 100% on PC too. Got my fill with 3DS and kinda felt more meaningful to clear it all on the awful controls and tiny screen.
>>716365523 (OP)god, there are quite a number of games I absolutely ruined for myself by trying to 100% them. I enjoyed ni no kuni to a degree playing it normally. However, the 100%? It's flaws become glaringly obvious and you realize it's actually pretty poorly designed.
didn't quite ruin it, but KH Re:Coded is also a game that's pretty good if you just finish it and do a couple of the extra stuff. But then you go for 100%? You start wondering why this was the series you developed a life long obsession for. Combat is real good, some of the best in the series despite being on the nintendo ds, but it just doesn't make up for having to repeat the episodes over and over again.
>>716365523 (OP)Depends on ease, reason, and favoritism. The Binding of Isaac for example, I've got it 100%'d, and that's no quick or simple task. It's a favorite of mine I'd play often though, and goals are basically "beat every path every way, do some funny stuff, see every item". I naturally gain progress with anything I do, and those asks, many as they are, encourage me to engage with everything the game has to offer. On the other hand achievements that're time sinks for the sake of it, some random impressive number perhaps, that's a waste if it's not proportional to the others. Games that give you a "hard mode" but overdo it like say, beat the full campaign only with headshots, I don't wanna fucking bother. And games that have very simple and easily attainable asks but I'm not all that into, I'm not driven to go back into it just to say I fully beat it. All this text to say I'll 100% any game I like that puts thought into what that means and doesn't bust my balls for wanting it.
I used to be an achievement slut because I had no money and making a number next to my name go up felt good. Don't care about that stuff at all now.
I got all achievements in Elden Ring because it was fun. Before that, the last game I 100%ed was Ninja Gaiden II. And I've finished Mario 64 with all stars and some other platformers and puzzle games and shit.
I really like JRPGs and would probably 100% some of those for fun but basically all of them have some stupid quest where you need to talk to a guy outside a cave but only at night and it has to be raining and it can't be before you've beat the boss to the area and you need chicken soup in your inventory and it has to be Thursday in real life and if you miss the quest then you're locked out of it for the entire game. This shit is just obnoxious.
>>716365523 (OP)Katamari damacy is all fun and games until they ask you to do a cowbear level
>>716382000Actually the best reply to that post
>>716365620100% a game used to actually have meaning before achievements
Now it's just completing your designated checklist
>>716365523 (OP)very rarely, 100% usually means picking up some garbage like TACOs and nobody's got time for that
>>716372756Retarded parrot.
Only when it's something I can brag about.
>>716365523 (OP)Pretty much always unfortunately. Sometimes it's fun and completely worth it, and sometimes it completely ruins the game for me (I probably would have enjoyed TotK if I hadn't spent way too many hours of my life fully exploring the boring depths.)
>>716365620Some people do it to compensate the innate desire to do "work" by doing inane menial busywork and checklists.
There are some games worth 100%ing though and i'd argue there are those games i only enjoyed when going for full completion since only then the full gameplay unfolded and the game allowed me to do what i want
>>716369179This, i always go for cheevos when still feeling like playing the game. I will only do something tedious that i don't feel like doing if it's the literal last thing to 100% completion
Khazan was an 'easy' 100% because all I needed to do was beat the game once and go into NG+
>>716365523 (OP)I get all achievements if I really liked the game. I have 97 perfect games on Xbox and 57 on Steam.
>>716372264I didnโt enjoy the effort it took to 10 star sh2 but I did enjoy playing with the green hyper spray after
>>716365523 (OP)34 games out of a total of 742 (thatโs less than 5%).
Favorite ones for 100% completion were the original Spyro trilogy (especially 1 and 3) and Batman: Arkham Asylum
The most boring ones were Crysis 3 and Valkyria Chronicles 2
