Wrestling culture is so strange. Everybody knows it's fake but they watch it for the show anyway. I mean I get that it's actually pretty physical and basically a sport but it's just hard to get invested when you know it's all staged. Personalities like hulk and macho man were fun though. I was never into wrestling but I knew some guys that were.

I never understood this sentiment. When you watch breaking bad or some shit like that, are you complaining about it not being real? No, you know it's fiction and you know it's actors. The only difference with wrestling is it's done in real time as live theater instead of recorded and edited. It hasn't been trying to pretend it's real since like the 70's

Its just a soap opera, nothing more. People like Hogan where larger than life characters, dude was basically a real life superhero in his era and oozed patriotism back when people actually loved their country.
The mans legacy spans almost 50 years.
