Why do so few games ACTUALLY let you feel like a wizard?

What like getting drunk on potions and scrying in your orb or whatever to peep on the schoolgirls of the local wizarding community college?

both dragon's dogma games are peak caster
yes it will take you eons to incant a proper spell
it will also annihilate anything in the same time zone as you, all the more if you have a pawn to mirror your spell

I doubt most people like it but I like the little minigame or whatever you want to call it while casting in Dragon's Dogma Online. You can basically just whip your mouse/joystick in circles but it still makes you feel a little more involved in the spellcasting.
Basically after you initiate a cast, a circle UI appears with a few dots placed "randomly" around it. You have to move your cursor/joystick to hit the dots, then another set appears, etc like 5 times or something. I think if you do it fast enough you even cast sooner than normal, but you get increased power for each dot you hit while charging.
