Unironically? Running away. It almost always works, and the AI is either programmed to keep chasing you in a predictable way for you to come up with a strategy, or just forget about you all together

they already killed the myth of this shitty move when they said that in the time the saber retracts and then extends again you'd already be BTFO and get your dick chopped off in the timeframe by your opponent. Jedis didn't use it because it was cowardly and Sith didn't use it because they aren't pussies

They do this a few times in Star Wars. I figure its uncommon because who wants to get rid of the only way they could possibly block or parry while fighting a trained swordsman?

Even if it does exists, it's still easy to fuck with an enemy's pathfinding. Most games don't have elaborate ai if you choose to just run away. or climb up a single polygon.

I was so guilty of this in Outlast 1/Whistleblower. Every "chase" area is divided from another area/the central hub my things like a gap you need to squeeze through or something you crawl under so 99% of the time when I got spotted I just run back and squeeze through again the the enemy AI instantly disengages. I just alt-tab and read something for a minute and then jump back in and try again. It took all the fear out of the game

How the fuck does it take someone that long to arrive at the correct method? Pinch the carrot with your finger tips and weight the knife with the palm. This shouldn't be the type of thing you have to learn or be taught. Anyone with the remotest amount of coordination and common sense should able to do this intuitively, with minimal experimentation beforehand.

>Jedis didn't use it because it was cowardly and Sith didn't use it because they aren't pussies
This doesn't make sense though. Its a terrible move that leaves you open, using it wouldn't be cowardly, it would be stupid. The main issue is that everyone treats lightsabers as though they need a lot of force to cut, so they take giant swings with their full arms as if they were using a physical sword, but lightsabers don't need all that because the cutting blade will still cut you even if you just brush up against it, it doesn't need a lot of force, it just needs to make contact. In OPs example, all he would need to do to get around his guard is simply flick his wrist and twist his arm a bit.

A lightsaber isn't just some laser emitter, retard. It's extends/retracts like that because it's held in some tractor this or repulsor that such-and-such field. Like come on. I'm not even a Star Wars nerd and I know that.

I want to support you on your Star Wars bashing because I also hate popular things (I think almost all anime made after the 1990s is artless, pandering, cringe garbage), but use your head here a bit my guy.

In general it's weird that lightsabers are wielded like they are, you would figure lightsaber duels would be more like fencing than knights fighting due to one touch effectively being death.

Then again lightsabers seem to gravitate towards each other and get locked so maybe heavier swings are better.

I feel like this wouldn't work for the simple reason that when you're clashing swords, you're both swinging them, so if you turn your blade off, they don't turn theirs off, and they slice the fuck out of you before you turn yours off and back on again.

In swordsmanship you want to strike and parry an incoming strike in the same movement ideally, turning off your blade is a retarded move because it leaves you defenseless and sabers do not turn on and off instantly

That's just a dual-phase lightsaber. I was more of a fan of the specific type of dual wielding that used a regular saber and a shorter one called a shoto when it came to a style focused on disorienting.
