Youโ€™re certainly not alone. No one learns how to parry in Dark Souls because retard video essayists tell people the best way to play is to roll around naked with a greatsword, and that using shields is bad.
Shields and heavy armor are fun in Dark Souls because itโ€™s meant to be a heavy, clunky game where it feels like youโ€™re a knight carrying heavy equipment.
Elden Ring even added a cool shield counter that no one fucking uses. Itโ€™s easy to execute, and feels good when it lands, but you need to time it right like anything else or youโ€™ll take a hit during the animation. But fuck all that! Just roll around naked dual wielding heavy weapons (which work better for tanky shield builds because theyโ€™re slow, but no one cares) and bumble youโ€™re way through the game like all the video essayists. The same video essayists who think they can critique the game design after they ignored half the mechanics.

>No one learns how to parry in Dark Souls because retard video essayists tell people the best way to play is to roll around naked with a greatsword, and that using shields is bad.
I didn't learn to parry in my first playthrough because I chose the knight class. Since you heavy roll from the very start, you're conditioned to use your shield whenever possible to block enemy damage.

No surprise you didn't learn parrying because most of the enemies are immune to parrying. What, are you just gonna trial and error figure out which human looking enemy can be parried and which can't after learning the right part of their animation for your animation speed parry? it doesn't even do much damage without the right weapon and ring for the risk you take.

My first run was definitely fucked, I'm pretty sure my friend at the time was fucking with me. I can parry extremely well in all souls games now though and I can beat Sif at any level with any class with any weapon now. Sif's moveset is just ingrained in my head permanently, like I was branded or some shit.

Also actually using pouch items. I just spent the entire game trying to suss out everyone's tastes. Oh, and aux cores, every one I found for the first, like, 10 hours was analogous to one of the shittiest gems in XC1, so I wrote them off and stopped equipping them.

I went through F3 missing two things about hacking:
1 - that brackets trick you can use to remove a wrong word
2 - that you could just stop hacking with one guess left and immediately start over with full guesses. I never tried it since it made much more sense to me if you were stuck with your guesses. Otherwise what's the point? If you can just start over again and again there would be no challenge. Turns out that was the design all along.

in case you have never played this game before, when you hold the transformation button for a while, you will perform a devil trigger explosion which causes massive damage around you

whenever you kill an enemy in dante must die difficulty all other monsters get stronger, so having the option to defeat all of them at once is extremely useful

When clicking on a word the game tells you how many letters are in the same position as the code-word.
Let's say the code-word is "TASK",
You randomly pick "MASK", and it would say 3/4, since they both end with "ASK". Three out of four words are in the correct position.
You now know that the word "MASK" is just one letter away from the code-word.
You pick "MASH", get the result 2/4 (since "MASH" and "TASK" has "AS" in the same location), and you now know that "MASK" is one letter closer than "MASH".
So it's about figuring out the code-word based on the clues you get from the other words you pick. It's not a bad mini-game, if only you couldn't restart it constantly. That's like saying "you have to roll a 5 or 6 to continue" and then giving you all the rolls you want.
