They tried to omni-pander and it didn't work out, so they switched to a singular focus. That's learning from your mistakes which is good. Look at TV mode. It was there, and then it was voted out.
I agree it's better to just put their foot down since the start, but if they are genuinely committed to what they're doing now, the launch will soon be memoryholed since the game is just a year old and prudes are already calling it a gooner game or whatever. Flip flopping and trying to cater to everyone is why Grubble, GI and HSR's playerbases are such hostile infighting dogshit. Everyone thinks they are a victim of [other] pandering. Themis, LaDS, Nikke and BA are some games which did it correctly.
