Mario is sadly a bigger IP and its easily accessible to children and manchildren. CTR both the original and remake will always be more soulful than every MK entry put together and for that reason alone it is forgotten. Its the skillful kart racer gamers deserve, but not the one they need right now.

I pretty much exclusively play time trials on CTR though and it's honestly a shot party game if one person has skills. Online multiplayer is shot for both.
