When was the last time a new video game genre was invented?
>>716397595 (OP)Kojima-sama and strand-types

well short of inventing new technology, broadly everything that can be done has been done, in terms of player perspective, goal, etc. You're not going to get something new like "first person shooter" or "real-time strategy", instead what's left is iterative of the things that already exist, and combinations. You have those extraction games that have been coming out, and you're seeing "extraction shooter", "extraction fantasy", "extraction sci-fi" etc.
It's a big reason why I've been getting less and less interested in games as I get older. I've played enough now that everything I play makes me think "this is like this other game, but this part is better/worse" and it just gets boring. I think I should get into movies cause the only thing that makes me interested in games anymore is the narrative.

>>716398335>I think I should get into movies cause the only thing that makes me interested in games anymore is the narrative.I think you'll find there's not a lot of imagination there either.
It used to be you could just predict the plot of a film, now you can literally predict the dialogue word for word.
>>716398440I assume older stuff is still good? The impression I get is for the last like, 15 years it's all been capeshit which I dislike inherently. I've never been a movie/TV show guy so most of "the classics" are still going to be new to me. I watched the godfather like 6 months ago and I thought it was great.
>>716397674it's probably killer spaghetti, which is pretty much what you said, but, instead of putting the spaghetti in boiling water, you fry it in garlic-infused oil for a couple minutes, then simmer it in the sauce.
>>716398662So it's italian yakisoba?
>>716398597Read manga, unironically or get a group together to play some tabletop RPGs. Hell, Mage the Ascension sounds like kino if one's creative enough with the system. (Fuck whitewolf though.)
>>716398896>Read mangalol
Jap shit is even more lacking in imagination than western shit. Jap shit is always every now and again someone actually manages to come up with an original idea and then for the next decade hundreds upon hundreds of exact copies of it are churned out by hacks.
>>716398896>Read manga, unironicallyI've tried but there's just something about it that makes it an unenjoyable experience to me. Maybe it's because computer screen.
>get a group together to play some tabletop RPGI got tired of that too. Thanks for the suggestions, though. I think I'm having a sort of midlife crisis (at 27) where I'm coming to realize I've done about as much as you can do in terms of indoors time killers and I want to start going /out/.
>>716399113Oh, get into a physical hobby then for sure! Martial arts if you want to spend some time just getting fit. BJJ/Judo/Myau Thai/Escrima, all good fun for that reason. You need some time outdoors to get inspiration anyway and enjoy something with a fresh mindset.
>>716398597>>716398335Movies are gayโread books instead.
Start with the Greeks.
>>716399431>Movies are gayโread books instead.This. I recommend Project Hail Mary if you're a nerd.
Do NOT watch the trailer for the upcoming movie based on it, as it spoils the plot twist.
>>716399431That's not a book, anon. That's a script for a play. You may as well be reading a movie script.
>>716399583no
it is, quite literally, a book.
>>716399695Then why does it include stage directions?
>>716398662It's called " all'Assassina", you fucking retarded mutt.
>>716399695NTA, but it is a play. You're reading the script in book form.
>>716399781for that remark, i'm going to buy a frozen pizza with pineapple on it
>>716398662is it any good actually? sounds simple to make
>>716399431I've read a decent amount of books. I'm reading The Idiot right now from an anon's recommendation, and I find that it's kinda pretentious. I think overall I'm just growing tired of media and I'd rather being doing things. It isn't anything against the pieces of media specifically, it's a "me issue". The thing I've had the most fun with in the last year was learning how to play music.
>>716397595 (OP)do "influencers" and their followers have bad taste and simply retarded? 9 times out of ten when every time I tried to cook "Trending" recipes, it's always bland and mediocre. but the recipes I learned from old timers, recipes passed down for generations are always good

>mamma mia I burna da pasta
>>716399953the recipes you find in videos are designed to look good first and foremost. the vast majority of viewers don't bother trying the recipe anyways.
>>716399780because it's a play
>>716399792>You're reading the script in book form.so a book?
do you spastics think "book" is strictly synonymous with "novel" or something?
You're trying to do this whole "haha, look how clever I amโI can play semantics!" thing to try and legitimate yourselves among the pack, but all it's doing is putting both your obnoxiousness and idiocy on display. you faggots are lucky this place is anonymous
>>716400453Anon, reading the script of a play is like reading a description of a painting.
You don't look like an intellectual by doing this, you just look like a retard.
>>716399953Pretty sure those recipes are made just to look good because they know nobody watching is gonna try it. They obfuscate this by not giving measurements
>>716400590This guy gets it. Those videos are like food advertisements: looks great, but literally made out of plastic and glue.
>>716400236>>716400590people are like this? I've always suspect that the people who comments on welding and wood working channels don't know what they're saying. they probably don't even know how to use power tools.

>>716400535your simile is bullshit, and I'm guessing you haven't read a play since high school since you hold such a pig-ignorant opinion
>>716398335i think people just got stuck on chasing trends and stopped innovating. around the 6th or 7th gen. and then as time went on, trying new things because discourage by major companies to maintain profits. indie games are mostly derivative due to the scope of what they can make as well. idk im no programmer but in vidya game idea threads i always post about storage wars getting a game and its basically a business sim with auctions but now that i think about it its not anything new either. auctioning is just gambling
