The problem many companies have is slowly becoming an echo chamber/circle jerk. When everyone you hire thinks exactly the same way that you do and it turns into a toxic positivity circle jerk this creates MASSIVE blindspots. In the old days this wasn't so bad, because Blizzard was smart and would look at other games and play other games and see what worked and what didn't. This went away for a long time and only recently has Blizzard started to look and see what was working, like their housing system they are finally making, only 10 years late to the party. An outside perspective can bring new ideas to the table, this is why things like diversity of thought is important. So I am hopeful for Epoch, after watching several videos and listening to the devs in Q&A's they seem very passionate about this project, which is something Blizzard lost for a long time. Hopefully it's not a shitshow tomorrow.

The only thing that interests me in WoW classic is dungeons and raids. The only fun I've ever had in PvP during WoW was when arenas got introduced. World PvP has always been absolute dogshit. For the 1% once in a lifetime experiences where world PvP is the most fun the game has to offer you get 99% of the time where it's just lopsided ganking. You never really get skirmishes or anything like that. That and resilience makes it even more unfun having to basically always keep your PvP gear on whenever doing anything.

Rather just do PvE, fuck around in arenas, and otherwise never interface with PvP at all. BGs are the same issue between wintrading and people botting that shit all the time just to farm honor, it's hardly ever any fun.

Really skeptical on the custom dungeon and raids they are advertising. I've never played Turtle WoW but those have custom dungeons too. How are those? I'd assume they're janky and buggy but maybe WoW custom content has come a long way?

I have all 3 beta achievements and I can tell you that youre absolutely correct about most of the game, and many people are going to wake up to it pretty quickly too.

I've said this before in a previous thread but adding a "new" cave next to Undercity with human peons in it, adding 3 quests for "collect crates", "kill 12 peons", and "kill the taskmaster" isnt new, interesting, or meaningful.
There will be people that point, shit piss and cum at the thought of a new quest like this, or people in braincells that think its cheap.

Also, I'm leveling a hunter, so it's going to be a breeze even just mob grinding. Fresh servers are always fun regardless of quality though, at least in my perspective. Discovery is fun even if you're discovering shit. Even if it's just me leveling to 60, trying some new dungeons, and dropping the game, I'm sure I'll have 100ish hours of fun for free so it's whatever.
But people were also acting like Turtle was going to be the second coming of christ which it seems it ended up with a lot of people being pretty lukewarm on the whole experience. I think people overall just view WoW through a really weird lens where they think they will recapture the magic of playing through the game for the first time on these private servers that tout custom content and that will just never ever happen. Honestly, that's why I thought the Crescent Grove was really in-line with classic Blizzard's uniquely crappy dungeon design. It wasn't until late vanilla/BC that they started to refine things into the hallway method that has stuck until this day.

Rogue seems coolest on the surface but is the sweatiest of the bunch to really get down, you fold like origami if you aren't fighting on the upper foot at all times.

Paladin is the most omni-useful and has the simplest playstyle, to the point of monotony. However, trying to play one like a Warrior is especially folly, Ret spec will always be a retard filter compared to the actually busted Prot and Shockadin.

Hunter is THE noob-friendly class, but has a higher ceiling than Paladin with ranged/melee swing timers and pet shit to manage. Both it and Paladin have really easy times solo levelling for different reasons (one can play keepaway indefinitely and has a companion to soak for them, one can do all the soaking themselves with near-infinite sustain).

Rogue has 3 playstyles: Combat, assassination and subtlety.
Combat is mainly a pve build and you're a straight forward fighter.

Turtle's custom content can vary a lot in quality. Gilneas City is straight up one of my favorite dungeons in WoW, whereas Crescent Grove and Hateforge Quarry are kind of just "whatevs." The new wings added to old dungeons can be buggy and have a long-standing glitch with lag, but they're really cool and they're fun additions. On the flip-side, all of the overworld sub-areas they've added to existing zones are AWESOME, and so are most of the actual new zones. Their quests often have weird grammar issues and whatever writing, but the environments are invariably great. I also like a lot of the design changes they've made to certain classes (Shaman tank being a real thing is fantastic), but other changes drive me up the fucking wall.

The reason I'm interested in Epoch is that I'm hoping they do a similar, good job but differently. It's two cakes for me, basically.

They're using the TBC talents as a base. Prot Warrior was objectively the worst tank at literally every single facet of tanking in TBC (mitigation, threat, single target, AoE, raid tanking, off-tanking) to pay for their dominance in Vanilla. If they don't change anything about it it's going to be actually useless, especially since Paladin and Druid got buffed. Granted, I think they are changing a lot about it, but it's a fair concern.

You're rarely pulling more than 10 mobs in any normal leveling or dungeon situation, its mainly to prevent mages from doing cheese strats like pulling entire dungeons and hopping up and down ledges to kite them. Yeah I'm actually excited to do PvP on the PvE server. I'm going to do the 50% exp contract on my first character at least so the option to engage in PvP for exp and rewards without being having to always risk getting ganked while looking for young panthers in STV is very appealing.

The devs spent months arguing over how to make Demonology better thematically. They removed felguard and replaced it with an ability that summoned demons from a portal to do damage but because it was little more than a glorified DoT they went back to felguard. Part of that redesign included moving sacrifice out of the Demo tree since saccing your demon for the spec about demons was even shittier thematically.

I wouldn't be surprised if Demo gets reworked eventually because they basically gave up on the reworkd when they put felguard back.

Turtle has a good version of Gilnaes as a zone even if it's a bit hilly probably due to 1.12 modding issues.

Epoch probably has better polished custom content even if there is less because 3.3.5 has better mod tools. The only issue with 3.3.5 is new quest zones are a nightmare which is why Epoch doesn't really have any besides Tol Barad.
