Liked it at first when you had to get resources to create objects for boss fights and then explore the universe. Then stopped playing for a few years, came back my world was deleted and when I started a new one a lot of stuff changed, the race skills were missing and I was railroaded into a shitty story.

i miss the old days when the races hated each other, the story was optional, and the alien life was randomly generated.

What I don't get is... If they had a vibrant lore that the community loved why did they decide to neuter all of it? I mean the racial skills and different racial armor skills were already coded, why would they remove stuff that was working and thr community enjoyed? The fucked up thing is that they laid the groundwork for tons of cool shit and just fucked it all up.

The underwater cities for the fish people that were fully built and just needed NPCs/Quests, they very obvious stages for boss fights, and the ship building that was in it's early stages.

They relied too much on unpaid interns who had no reason to give their full effort to development and who constantly filter out and get replaced, needing to have things explained every new intern cycle. Thus vibrant, interesting lore and world design gets replaced with a generic, easy to explain story that repeats the same gameplay cycle like 5 times.

Note that for versions past one of the giraffes I think in 2016 the game was split into a content depot and a per-OS executable depot, so you'll have to download both.
Versions prior to that have all operating systems' executables in the content depot.
Try to avoid any version from the nightly branch, they regularly half-broke things. Anything from the unstable branch is generally fine.
