I'd say so, at least for PvZ 1. Somehow they blew it all away somewhere during the middle of PvZ 2, and can't even get a non-dogshit version of PvZ 3 out the door. They're on their 5th attempt at least for PvZ 3.

I guess it also makes the zombies have to travel further, but they'd only be traveling if they killed all your sunflowers, which isn't ideal

The idea is that you have your attackers at the far left as your last line of defense instead of sun plants and that sun plants (at least sunflowers and tiny sunshrooms) are more replaceable than your attacker plants due to being cheaper.

The first reason doesn't really play that much of a role in PVZ1 because it's not that hard, but it does play more of a role in modded challenges or PVZ2 or its modded versions due to higher difficulty as you're more likely to see zombies bypass the frontlines more.

You can still usewalnuts or other blocking plants at the frontline, it's just sunflowers will be the ones behind the walnut frontline instead of attacker plants (unless it's short range attacker plants like snapdragons in PVZ2)

Sunflowers are more replaceable than attacker plants due to being cheaper and even if you get alot of them wiped out the idea is to stock up on sun to replace them. Also you don't just simply have sun plants act as the only barrier in your frontlines, you can still use blocking plants like tallnuts.
