kinda liked the first game, but got disrupted by some other game and lost all track
tried to start playing it again but just couldn't replay the first half, should I force myself trough it or read some summary and start the second game?
It's worth it if you liked it so far. Both games have pretty good twists you won't see coming (because they are batshit, but in a charming way).
The second is a direct sequel and has heavy references to the first. This spin off game has also made jokes about the previous games already and I've only played an hour.

The first game was fun, but I just can't bring myself to care about the 2nd game (or this one) because they hand wave the twist ending of the first game away so they can keep Date's look the same.
I liked somnium files, seemed fresh and fun
I disliked nirvana initiative, a lot of it I considered worse
How is this so far? Please don't tell me it's like the second one. Please don't tell me it's like the second one.
>>716411558 (OP) >Date's game released today >zero hype
Somnium bros... Is the game that bad? I'm just getting it for Date and Aiba banter, so I don't mind if it's more of a filler entry
>>716414924
2 sucks, but them having Date wear a mask is fucking nothing compared to all the glaring flaws it has. Like it doesn't even factor into it it's such a minor issue.
>>716418649
It doesn't look to me like it's DLC sized but still 40 bucks after the last entry is steep. If you ever bought NI you should get this one for free as an apology.
How big is this game? Is it a full title or just a shorter side game?
I liked 1 quite a bit but hated 2, so I'm kinda mixed on whether I even want to give this a chance

The first game has some serious story, fairly dark from the start, but a lot of humor on the side. It separates them well though.
The second game sort of blends these in such a way that they're asking you to take a lot of things seriously that don't even make sense. An example is that in the first game, a character is inhumanly strong which should have remained as a bit of a gag, but the second game decided there's a backstory for that, and it's all legitimate.

I bought Hundred Line for 30€ and beat it after 180 hours.
I am not going to spend 40€ on what looks like a glorified DLC after the disappointment that NI was.
Done one somnium so far and it somewhat followed logic but it was a quiz show setting so take that as you will.
There are also escape room sections more like 999/vlr that are real world, no somnium time limit and more puzzle based. So the somniums will probably get more whacky once everything gets going.
I bought it, will get around it to soon.
Its competing with alot of gacha, nintendo releases, the price point is the saving grace because otherwise its getting overshadowed hard
>>716419002
I'm not giving Kodaka a fucking dime for forcing Uchi to make ZTD and AI2 "standalone sequels" that any player can pick up while his shit HAS to be played chronologically.
>>716419263
Uchikoshi is a hack anon, he can make bad choices all on his own. You don't need a scapegoat, neither ZTD nor AI2 had anything to do with Kodaka or TooKyo Games.
I am a fan of these games and I didn't even realize it came out today
Spike Chunsoft needs to hire better shills. I didn't even see any threads leading up to its release
>>716432695
They gave it fuck all advertising and what little they did talk about was very questionable.
They didn't even make clear what the game really was. It looks like a short side game exclusively for fans and isn't written by Uchikoshi, but it's priced at 40 bucks.
>>716419002
I'm torn between wanting the genre to survive and hating everything Kodaka's done since leaving DR. I bought Emio too and it wasn't any good either besides the music... But I want more mystery ADV because I grew up with the DS.

Somewhere between horrendous and terrible? There is no plot, and what can be considered "plot" is beyond retarded. It's just an excuse to have a game with escape rooms.
>>716435728 >>716435958
The way the game is structured is: >escape room that doesn't progress "the plot"-->psync that doesn't progress "the plot"-->investigation(you revisit locations from ai1 and ai2) that doesn't progress "the plot"
It's honestly impressive how nothing is happening yet happening.

I've been so busy I forgot and got jumpscared on the new releases page. Also heard the writing isn't quite up to snuff from an early reviewer.
>>716436907 >"Yamada: I had a dream where I was kidnapped by members of the mafia who make movies as a hobby. I was forced to write a script under 24-hour surveillance and couldn't leave the room until their boss was satisfied. Meanwhile, I watched my wife being seduced right in front of me, and I cried uncontrollably. It was too sad, so I didn't use it as any kind of reference."
Jesus Christ... Then again, Date is a cuck so maybe this is why
why did they not mention the spoiler toggle question at the start and make the answer hard? i have a feeling 99% of the people playing will get it wrong. In AINI they made it clear and signposted the spoiler question but in this you have to specically recognize its a flashback to Date's past from AI1 and specfically remember he's running from the Sejimas
>>716439931
Might be a blessing in disguise since Uchikoshi said Santa will appear in the future so it's more likely we will get a ZE4 then since they did not make a cameo in this side game.
>>716440780
it wouldnt happen regardless because uchikoshi did not write nor direct no sleep this was by a new guy who designed the somniums in the previous games
>>716440903
But Uchikoshi did say that he oversaw the early plot outlines so it was a possibility.
Also the entire premise of the game is Escape Rooms meant to open your third eye, which really implies a connection somewhere in there especially with Date remembering information from other timelines in the first game including memories that are not from his past
>>716411558 (OP) >what if there was a really bad shounen anime but you could control the guy sometimes!
I bought the first Somnium files game on the PS4, physical, coz i thought it'd be a cool scifi detective game but it ditches the entire premise and turns into anime brainrot within about 90 mins.
>>716441069
i dont think he had that much control over it. in an interview he said his contributions were mainly stuff like "this person shouldnt know this information yet" or "this should be revealed in the next scene not this one" etc.
>>716435176
I’m having a lot of fun with the gameplay, and there’s some fun mystery/intrigue like you’d expect from an Ai game, so far I’m enjoying it more than 2, but it’s very early on and I’m biased because I like the escape rooms a lot more than the somnium stuff. Also they replaced pewter with a short and sexy blonde and put Iris in a sexier outfit.
>>716418191
I just don't care about spinoffs
it reeks of cowardice
if they want to make another game then fucking make another one
not some half-baked interquel
