I'm not going to read the rest of this thread, but the reason is that bugs inherently dodge the design flaws of most modern Pokemon by being bugs.

Pokemon have relatively realistic proportions and even musculature. Their base color and additional details are mostly one or two muted colors. Pokemon look like "pocket monsters".

Soft, round shapes. Gaudy, unnatural colors and details. Look like marketable little cutesy-wutesy blobs most of the time.

Bugs dodge the "soft, round shapes" flaw because bugs are angular and have clearly articulated limbs. Bugs dodge the "gaudy, unnatural colors" flaw because many real life bugs do exhibit vivid colors and patterning. And no matter how hard you try to make them marketable, a bug still looks like a bug for these two reasons. It's not a coincidence that two of the few exceptions to this >>716423037 are the least liked bug designs. It's just by chance that bugs happen to get around most of the shit that makes modern Pokemon designs suck so much.
