I want anyone playing argostars to be fed feet first into a wood chipper. I've never lost to it, in fact I almost always win from time loss but thats the problem. They do nothing but flip flop back and forth from the spell / trap zone into the monster zone then activate effects each time in response and in response to those responses, taking 3 over minutes to just burn me for 500 damage and thats it.
It's everything I hate about modern yugioh decks where they have stupidly long turns for absolutely no reason, but what makes argostars worse is there isn't even a pay off. They just waste both of our time making a board does that literally nothing.

Branded was a tiered meta deck multiple times with zero negates. It got Rindbrumm, and that card is almost exclusively used as a Mirrorjade/Branded in High Spirits target. You're a fucking moron if you think negates are required for every deck.

The White Aura engine was a blessing save for the Water lock, but it only lasts one turn, and playing well enough means getting to turn 3 for OtK going first, without the locks getting you access to Accel Synchro Dragon > Towers Satellite pop 3 gain 3000atk. I've even run this deck with Hop Ear Squadron to great success, it's only drawback is not being a water monster, can be bricky on turn 1, and Ghoti almost always needs to go first in the current format. Its not impossible to go second, but the lackluster room for non-engine leaves it lagging behind going second.
Nevertheless, these decks have gotten me to master 5 a couple times this year. Current format not so much, but only because Maliss plays into Ghoti like its nothing.

To be fair to that anon, when Ghoti released it was borderline unplayable because fish without restrictions are far and few between, and didn't tend to combo well with Ghoti's primary function. It wasn't really until they dropped 2 new Ghoti cards and the White Aura engine (Sardine and Sunfish specifically) did it become consistent enough to be played past Gold. White Aura effectively introduced 9 cards that can be used as 2 card starters with virtually any other fish, which helped it immensely. There used to be a joke floating around before the support that Ghoti is 2 cards from being meta relevant, and it still kinda is because there isn't a consistent way to search a fish without also having to banish it via Psiics effect.

Centur-Ion is pretty linear and low ceiling unless you mix it with another engine like fiendsmith or melodious, Gimmick Puppet is as linear as it gets

Centur-ion. Gimmick puppet is literally the FTK or die deck, it's as one-trick as you can get. Centurion can be linear if you go uninterrupted but most of the skill comes from managing a low to the ground combo that eats a few interruptions while using Centurion's grind game to out-advantage opponents over the duel. Being able to reliably search or draw every turn is pretty big, especially since a lot of the engines that work well with Centurion like Bystials have a similar gameplan. Bystials aren't great this format but you can make Centurion more of a synchro combo deck by combining it with the RDA cards.

As it stands, I still see pet decks in platinum and diamond. These people know their deck isn't gonna set records, they're just enjoying the game.

There's only 1 brick, if you draw the trap card you can just discard it for the field spell. But the number of times I've drawn Atrii AND had no way to get it out besides the main combo AND went totally uninterrupted was literally once. Centur-ion is almost built to eat interruptions because it has very telegraphed plays. But it doesn't really matter because you're also running like 20 hand traps.

You can't even go into Hearts of Crypter after Red Ransom revives herself because she requires 3 materials. You can't go into Haggard Lizardose to banish Red Ransom because she has over 2000 ATK, let alone the fact that we can't even access to Cheshire Cat during the combo because we already normal summoned and we have no feasible way to special summon her. Surely someone better than me can find some better combos, but losing both Decoder and Mage would definitely be fatal to the deck. You can't even pivot into non-Link monsters because Rabbit, Cheshire and Dormouse all lock you into Links only after summoning themselves from banishment.

Yep, that's exactly what I mean. Maliss is meant to end on Crypter with White and Red in GY ready to summon on your opponent's turn. That combo is not possible at all if you get rid of the generic Cyberse support, because the Maliss Links are all Link 3 and Crypter specifically requires THREE monsters, one of them being a Maliss monster.

The most powerful they can do is get a decently protected, OPT omni-negate out pretty easily that also burns, but you need a high level dragon card. If you don't one they have a normal summon that can become a high level dragon card. The less powerful cards are a card that can pop 3 times per turn, and a card that burns with each card activation.


The real interesting part of the deck is that there are no bricks, almost each card has a secondary effect that can shuffle itself into the deck to add a card you need to hand to finish the combo. So really you can just shove it anywhere.

Also, kinda makes me wish the alt art had been for Lady then. Since the standard is 1 Lovely 2 Lady, so this way you could have run 3 different looking artworks of her, instead of having to choose between the old Lovely and the new one, and then still running 2 of the same Lady.
