1. Few companies are trying
2. A lot of the few ones that try seem to be unaware with what made it great to begin with, including Pyranha Bytes.

ironically, it was a bunch of polish modders who made Archolos, who truly got it and made an amazing Gothic game.

The game doesn't need mods. It's perfect the way it is, with NOTR. If you don't like it it means you have shit taste. Source: someone who finished it 50+ times

You see, that part of the bridge is made of magically stretched rocks, that's why it looks like that.

Damage formula in G1 was retarded
It made 1 handed swords obsolete
>gives monsters magic runes - imagine swamp snakes using Water Cannon
Funnily enough dragons in Gothic 2 do use magic runes when they throw fireballs at you

I'm not a big fan of NOTR, because it goes too hard into "You have to use everything at your disposal to survive" school of RPG's. Vanilla Gothic 2 is a lot more chill. I do love the NOTR content though.

There's nothing weird about its controls. Hold down control to declare that you are "performing an action". Then with keys you direct which way that action goes.

NOTR goes too hard in the opposite direction where you get oneshot by fucking everything, to the point that wearing armor is just fucking pointless because everything deals so much damage if you get hit you're going to die anyway. And you don't play Gothic games for their "difficulty" either, difficulty in RPG games is a fucking meme, they're not character action games. You will eventually be able to break the game, the only difference is just how much shit you will have to collect and how much time you will have to spend running around killing everything.

Wouldn't play it with such mods either but it crushes your balls a bit too much for my taste if you don't level your weapon skill at the start, which happens easily if you don't know what you're doing.

I am not complaining
But it is true that NoTR difficulty is really unforgiving for new players
The addon targets players who are already familiar with original gothic 1 / vanilla gothic 2 which are way more beginner friendly
