Anyway, piracy doesn't really matter, but it still needs to be frowned upon to keep normalfags from doing it. Usually, the people who pirate were never going to be customers anyway, and they can inadvertently assist in getting more eyes on your product.
But if you really want to talk ethics, let me ask you: can you claim ownership of an idea? When does it stop being yours? If I read a book and then tell my friend everything that happened in it, am I committing some kind of crime? I've memorized the lyrics to entire albums of music: if they exist so firmly in my head, are they not mine now, in a way? Furthermore, if you're an artist (or innovator), are you more concerned with making money than spreading your work? Yes, you need money, as everyone does, but pirates exist on top of the fans who are actually willing to pay, even when you give them the opportunity not to: just look at all the different sites that exist today where artists get paid to work on shit they were going to do anyway. Those guys didn't have to fund them, but because they do, even more people can experience their work.
