It sold 5,000,000 which is great for a low-budget asset flip. They probably spent more on getting that Evanescence song than they did for actual game development.

They said in an interview that they let newly hired novice developers work on it, to gain more experience with the engine and tooling. As a result, they now have millions of extra profit and a small army of more experienced devs.

3) Slow but consistent trickle of minor updates
4) The relics are essentially gacha
5) FOMO with the everdark boss variants
6) The devs promised DLC so people aren't gonna drop the game until that's out
7) It's a multiplat
8) People have been duped into thinking $40 is cheap now that $80 is the new normal
