Also, games on your steam library are downloaded in full to your PC, you are given the "physical" media. You can literally put it on an external drive and take it with you. Any DRM or online requirements are not implemented by Valve, but the game developers themselves. You can even still download delisted games if you previously owned them. World in Conflict has been delisted for years and I just re downloaded it yesterday.
