I replayed Impossible Lair and Tropical Freeze back to back fairly recently and it really demonstrates what fake soul is. Impossible Lair oozes soul, while Tropical Freeze falls flat.
It also has so much momentum, which isn't inherently bad or anything, but none of the DKC games are like that.

You can stop on a dime in a real DKC game from rare. Tropical Freeze is laggy and has insane momentum. Sorry I insulted your favorite game, but it isn't really that good. At least you don't need to waggle your wii u or switch, I guess.

It works exactly like that. That's one of the lowest lag TVs on the market, only 2ms away from a CRT. it's even lower lag than the handheld Switch screen, despite people claiming that's the lowest lag way to play

I'm not autistic so I whatever lag there was I adapted to and managed to 100% the game twice. I'm not playing Melee where I need to frame-perfect a wave dash into a 2 frame at the ledge, the input lag doesn't hurt me.

I used to make them back in the day with Lunar Magic, even. Several of my levels/hacks were highly rated in the community.

My favorites were the VIP Marios, particularly 4.

I don't like collect-a-thons, though I admit Odyssey is the best one ever made. Still an 8/10.

SM3DW is just the perfection of the Galaxy formula. Tight gameplay, focus on level designs, linear levels with freedom in what order you tackle them, and loads of variety.

Though my favorite thing about it has to be that each character has their own unique traits like SMB2. Wonder was disappointing in how everyone played the same except for the Yoshis.

Kirby games are primarily about the ability play and combat. The levels are never going to be challenging considering the big guy has infinite flight. All the challenge comes from the optional content, particularly the arenas, which is something I like about Kirby.

>Do you like 3d platformers?
Yes, but I think the margin for error is higher. It's harder to make interesting levels in 3D in my opinion. The main issue being that most obstacles you can just avoid. Mega Man X7 is a great example - they took the Mega Man formula and did nothing to update it into 3D so during the 3D segments you can often just run straight past all the enemies.

Platformer series that focus on combat don't translate well into 3D. That's why Mega Man X7 and Kirby Forgotten Land turned out like they did.

It's more of its time and embodies a certain ethos of manga/anime from the Gen X perspective. It's got an edge to it that HxH doesn't quite match. While I think HxH is better overall, YYH holds up very well.
