Since Sony is going full 3rd party now and taking a page out of the Xbox handbook, is this evidence that SEGA was actually right for the past 20+ years?

Honestly?
SEGA's published post-third party games are better than they were pre-third party

Well I mean Sega went third-party out of necessity rather than choice

>Microsoft and Sony are just choosing to go 3rd party for the fun of it and not out of necessity.

Sega was definitely the correct horse to bet on back in 6th gen if you wanted video gaming to be a more healthy industry in the long term. Such a shame that it didn't work out. Too many gamers bought into the hype of the PS2. I remember reading articles in 2000 that Nintendo was working on building its own MMO for Gamecube to compete against Sega since PSO was doing very well in Japan. After Sega bowed out, Nintendo quietly cancelled the project. Rumor has it that Miyamoto didn't want to do it but the higher ups didn't want Sega to look better than them. After Sega dropped, Miyamoto was allowed to kill the project.

SEGA went third-party because their consoles failed utterly and it was no longer an option for them

Sony would be going third party because stockholders demand higher profits every quarter so they need as many game sales as possible
