Nintendo markets children's games to "all ages"
That is the problem.
That is why there are manchildren in gaming. That is why there are trannies in gaming.
Look at the catalog right now.

Then between those threads you have

To a certain degree Sonic fans will do this, but they mostly grow out of it in their 20's. The biggest factor pushing this, by FAR, is Nintendo. They are the ones pushing these cute chidlren's characters onto the gaming industry, endlessly wallowing in nostalgia and the past. It's so fucking toxic, it's the biggest problem in the industry.
These games belong in the kid's aisle with Veggitales and Transformers and shit. But that doesn't makes as much money.
Their business practices are also terrible.
-- jacking up prices to historic highs
-- re-releasing old games, old consoles for a quick buck
-- aggressively pulling down any fanart, music, or anything depicting their precious children's characters
-- most of their characters are shitty japanese ripoff of other media, like how DK is literally just a shitty King Kong ripoff
It is the worst thing in the gaming industry, bar none. There are actually cool, artistic, innovative games, that aren't this awful colorful smiling nintendo shlock.
