But, the point of dark souls is to kill the last people keeping humanity alive, and usher in the dark age. It's not Elden ring where the player can bring about a better era. The game is very much chink bloodborne in terms of themes.
The setting is the during the end of the Ming empire. Every thing is in shambles and taking advantage of the general collapse of civilization.
All the while this is happening, a mysterious plague called the Feathering is turning people into monsters, most notably birds. Those who have succumbed fully to the Feathering only mimic what small personality they had in life but they are just mindless monsters that need to be killed at that point because there's no reversing the effects of the plague especially at that stage. The plague can also reanimate the dead like a parasite puppeteering corpses.

Elden Ring had a couple of spooky or grimdark areas. But overall, it went way more for a majestic, high fantasy feel. It wasn’t really my thing. Evasive Maneuver is inCREDibly good (the starting skill on the 1st one handed sword you get) and the Magic Spear throw move you get from the priest boss is very safe + chunks her. She literally can't touch you and you get infinite Skybound meter by using Evasive Maneuver a ton.

Optimization isn't as bad as in say Mh:Wilds or Wo long and Dragon's Dogma 2 on release.
I can get stable 60fps (minus the stutters) with medium settings (1080p resolution) on a rtx3060+i5-12400.

Nah i fixed their balancing for one boss for not taking into account all their weapon types. Longsword rapes her ass so easily because of babymode deflect and clash. Not my problem the devs are retarded and locked key mechanics (that they feel the need to remind you about right before this exact boss) behind certain spreadsheet skill tree decisions.

As for the madness mod, nah it just removed this gay mechanic and makes tbe damage you do and takr consistent instead of changing depending on how many birdniggers you decide to kill.

unfortunately the way to actually hit things with one handed sword is to never use the 1st/2nd attacks in the string, ever, they exist purely to trap you.

attacking out of sprint or dodge (or certain discipline moves) skips these 2 attacks entirely and after performing attack 3 and 4 the string just loops 3 > 4 > 3 > 4 which are both single, quick strikes. So get used to always dodging or sprinting before attacking.
