I just finished Risky Revolution the other day. I thought it was decent. Better than Risky's Revenge and Half-Genie Hero imo.

I have gooned to shantae for years and I even remember gooning to the pixel art in Risky's Revenge on my DSi while on vacation as a teen. I never got far in the game because I honestly didn't understand how metroidvanias worked and I had just bought it because Shantae was hot. Then I recently played Blast Master Zero, realized I love metroidvanias, and beat both Half-Genie Hero and Seven Sirens this month. Good games. Half-Genie Hero was good but I despise the 3D backgrounds.

I have to assume that they think the market is oversaturated due to the absolute glut of indie games with decent pixel art. So basically the average consumer doesn't want to pay $40+ dollars for a pixel art game, because they're used to them being $25, but a 2D platformer with good animation and production value better matches expectations and allows WayForward to sell Shantae games for a higher price to more people.

I always thought it was a waste to have these cute and sexy girls from the shantae series, but not put them in any h-game. Their designs scream for it., and it would be one of the hottest h-games ever, especially with the fetish-bait that is already in the games fully realized and turned into actual hentai.(Mermaid factory for example).
