This is a stain on Capcom's legacy. SFV looked much, MUCH better

Because they went with a more 'realistic' style, possibly to differentiate with how wacky and anime-ish 5 was. They just made everything look bad.

Horror engine. I'd allow the game to be ugly but it also plays the worst in the series. I really didn't think they could get any lower than SFV bu they pulled out all the stops to make 6 as shitty as possible.

RE Engine. A vehicle designed for disgusting gore and rendering fleshy horror environments and monsters. Combine that with some kind of stupid Western 'hood slant in design even though the iconic anime aesthetic was beloved in SF since the start (Yes the start was II) by the audience that SF should be catering to.

Eh, I wouldn't call SF2's art style anime, the alpha series did use the anime movie's art style though and those sprites are the ones that probably got used the most when you take into consideration the marvel and SNK crossovers (also Capcom's MUGEN Jam), and the SF3 ones are relatively compatible with them too.
