SH hasn't been good since 4 and Kojima proved to be a hack writer with Death Stranding. Like it or not, a big impact of SH franchise was the story, not just the gameplay. Even with excellent gameplay, atmosphere and world, if the story is shit, it'd ruin the entire experience

I don't know, I think ball pits can be pretty good for horror if used correctly. Off the top of my head, a ball pit seems like something Pennywise from it could pop up in, and there's no telling what else he'd made come up from the unseen depths. I feel like Angela's and Laura's named got switched during the development. According to the book of lost memories, the name Laura comes from a book No Language But a Cry. The book is about a girl called Laura who suffered horrifying abuse at the hands of her father. Meanwhile, the name Angela was picked because it just means angel. As in, a pure creature, without sin.
I'm guessing that they didn't want to confuse the dumber members of the audience into thinking that Laura isn't real. Didn't work, since those theories are still floating around.
