The main Gundam being the final boss was a fantastic (and thematically perfect for the story) idea and Calibarn is one mean looking son of a bitch so a proper fight to the death without holding back would have been great. Instead we got an unsatisfying skirmish even when you're 100% right about the Unicorn block.

(I still haven't build my Calibarn kit; I should do it this weekend).

No, that's for unlocking the Char's Counterattack special scenario in UC mode, which only happens to unlock the ZZ Gundam. For unlocking the ZZ content, such as shittons of songs and some characters in arcade mode, you have to play arcade mode while doing some things like using characters from Federation Vs Zeon, beating certain enemies and also beat survival mode. I think.
And by the way, the UC mode alternative special routes are totally worth it lol

I want strong single player mecha games, with fun mechanical gameplay, level design and enemy design. Armored Core is great, but I'd like more than 1 example, and generally less grounded mecha games. A massive space battle would be great as well.
