I really thought skate 4 was going to be shit. Yes, the graphics are very cartoonish compared to skate 2, the writing/dialogue sounds like they told an ai to be as cringe and reddit as possible, glitches, and there are only a handful of good songs (mainly the get up kids(!), turnstile, mf doom)
But it's fun. it feels like a skateboard mmo seeing all of the other players skating around a huge skatepark city. There are a lot of good features, and I like how parts of the map and challenges can change. Tony Hawk 3+4 was a fucking rip off and Skate 4 is free so it already mogs that shit.

Oh yeah and a lot of things about skate 4 are really gay and trannyish, like le heccin wholesome graphics like hearts and shit (here's a heart and a rainbow - it feels shallow and forced like "please don't kill yourself and purchase the microtransactions.") they added to the game in case some tranny is playing so they don't want to kill themselves constantly. and you can make your character into a hideous tranny. the customization is shit so far and no genders, you can be a guy with tits and mascara, and there are only a few options to choose from and no sliders. I guess at least that's more customization options, but it just comes across as troonish. but I can ignore that because it seems like people aren't making their character look gay, and if they do, they make their character a black, overweight, bearded troon as a joke, which is funny. anyway I'm impressed with it just because it feels like a huge alive world with tons of players and the actual gameplay is fun.

This is back before Ollie's where a thing. I think he also invented the pop shove it, varial flip, dark slide/Casper slide. I know it kinda doesn't look super impressive to today's skaters but videos like these are basically showing the baby stepsof skateboards. I think he was also responsible for the current design of skateboards and he designed that back then. Before we used to have those Bart Simpson skateboards that are kinda fish shape with the big tail stop on the back. Basically all the weird wacky shit about Tony Hawk game moves came from an invention of his. And I remember Tony saying how the next generation of skaters kinda learned from the video games and committed to moves and lines that were difficult to do before, like chaining multiple flips, manual, and grinds. Its all extremely difficult but that's what the younger kids are focusing on so they're crazy good at a younger age than the 70s, 80s, 90s kids.
