I liked DS1 overall, but mostly for chill gameplay and vibes (I listened to audiobooks while playing a lot of it).

The ending wasn't really that good. It takes way too long, and the "twist" is basically ruined by 2 hours of cutscenes because kojima doesn't respect the audience enough to understand it (even though its pretty obvious by the end of the vietnam section).

I hated this scene, because it felt like a shitty copy of the MGS4 ending, except like, it's missing everything that made it the snake and ocelot fight actually work.

Ignoring how horrible, repetitive, boring and janky the gameplay is.
The plot itself is full of plotholes, constant retcons or bait and switch or 20 plot twists in a row delivered by characters voiced and mocapped by cheap actors, all of them with the most convoluted "sad" backstorieswho won't stop crying. Every main quest is repetitive and consists of going to X character to watch them cry and give you their super sad backstory, each creating a completly brand new type of power or lore to the setting, no no you see this character can SUPER TELEPORT AROUND, and this other one? THIS ONE IS SUPER GENIUS MIND LINKED TWINS! Ohhh and this doctor can die and revive and die and revive and go to the beach and come back! awesome innit!?

DS2 really feels a remake of DS1 desu. With scenes that are exactly the same and a plot that does not progress. Not to mention Sam became Venom Snake. He is even more laconic then he was in the first game (at least in the first game he had an excuse). He is bland as fuck, almost never reacts and the characters progress when he is away.
You fight John Metalgear instead of Cliff in the same boring, lame TPS sections, the story is still about an EE and Higgs...And when it doesn't not copy DS it copies Metal Gear, for example by remaking The Patriots. I'd recommend playing it for the gameplay if you like it, more than the story.
