Probably a mix of both. Lots of NPCs would just keep going to work because they don't know what else to do. And then a lot of others would go full purge, "nothing matters so I'll go on a killrape spree because I'll be dead in a few months anyway"
Personally I think I'd just bail. Go out into the woods somewhere and watch the show.

That's a theory, at best. You have no proofs whatsoever of what happened when earth was forming, modern science doesn't even know what is under the earth crust.
You have theories validated by one or two guys saying something because they are the only one that works on that determinate project, they were the first or nobody wasted time or money debunking that because it's impossibile.
