Yeah I'd say FEAR 2 is worth playing. It's inferior to 1 imo, but if you like FEAR its worth a playthrough. You can definitely tell it was made with consoles in mind though.
FEAR 3 though? It's like the dead space 3 of the series, goes big on being a coop shooter, throws horror out the window, pretty short. Story is actual awful nonsense, and does retcon and character assassinate some characters.
It doesn't seem bad in the first level, when you're in a prison and fighting in close quarters. But it shits the bed quick, I'd say only play 3 if you want to experience and just know why the series died and ONLY if you can get it on sale

If they update the gameplay beyond straight QoL options it's not a remaster, it's a remake. That said making some tweaks and improvements to combat in [Prototype], particularly the bosses, comes to mind as something that would make a great game incredible.

I like old games for their gameplay, so the only remasters/remkes I would play would be from older games with shit gameplay, I think the new Raidou remake did pretty good in that regard, putting all of Raidou 2's mechanics and combat into Raidou 1 with a bunch of other changes.
DMC2 would be a good candidate for something like that.

Oh I agree, but putting out a version of a game everybody knows is good with more graphical detail and some reworks for the sake of change/making it easier sells better than righting the wrongs of the past. Also, I've seen the argument that remaking bad games is a worse use of resources than just making a new game, but I think that ultimately depends on the game you're looking at and how much effort you'd need to fix it.

Yeah, I kinda agree with this one. I beat it twice but I couldn't tell you how much of that was Stockholm Syndrome with the combat. Everything else about it is impeccable. I kinda put Fragile Dreams on Wii in the same boat, but the gameplay is less an affront to God and more just an uncomfortably awkward genre blend.

Lunar 2 is very different and interesting for deciding to hurt the player when they run, but that's still a dogshit game design choice. Same goes for not even having the option to control party members directly or having the game's main dungeon be a 250+ floor gauntlet of the same shit over and over with the only changes being the floor and wall texture every 30 or so floors.

Hope that fatlus changes up the shitty P4 hallway dungeons as well in the upcoming remake.
